decoke Mobile DPF / FAP Cleaning

At Decoke we offer a unique state of the art mobile DPF cleaning service, with our highly technologically advanced equipment we can de-carbonise and clean out all the soot  from your DPF giving your vehicle a breath of fresh air and allowing your ongoing motoring to proceed without too much time “off the road” all done from your home or workplace. Our patented methods and principles for carbon removal from your DPF are second to none, we are the market leaders throughout Yorkshire.

Our system uses scientifically designed detergents which we inject into the DPF to break down the carbon whilst the DPF is still connected to your vehicle, with a method of allowing the detergents to soak the carbon and flushing with compressed air, we can expel the carbon and contaminate out of the exhaust system.

Our treatments can take up to 4 hours to complete as we are very thorough and professional with our techniques and expect nothing less than excellent results, if our initial clean doesn’t attain satisfactory results we will repeat the process, free of charge.

The methods and detergents used are completely non harmfull to your car and components and also non harmful to the environment, we take away all the used contaminated detergents after the clean, which we dispose of professionally and responsibly.

We include all diagnostic work with our services within the price agreed, which includes removal of all the associated warning lights and regeneration of the DPF to reset its Values and Data.

Our highly trained and qualified technicians have had years of experience dealing with the very broad spectrum of DPF’s and DPF related issues, so there isn’t much that we haven’t seen before or a DPF that we can deal with.

What is a DPF ?

DPF or (Diesel Particulate filter)  we’re introduced in the early year 2000’s into the exhaust sysyem of modern production road going, injection engine, diesel powered vehicles, which are designed to filter out the larger particles of carbon released from the combustion cycle. The principle of the DPF  is to collect the carbon inside the Silicon Carbide or Cordierite core of the unit until the correct conditions are met when the DPF can incinerate the accumulated deposits.

The DPF will usually remove up to 60% of the soot content without warning lights, although designed to remove up to 85% , a DPF can attain soot removal efficiencies approaching 100% , in which case it would be very unlikely that the vehicle would function correctly due to this.

The DPF self cleans itself by a means of  regeneration, which can be achieved once the vehicle is within the correct conditions, usually 4th or 5th gear and above 60mph, driving for a long period of time within these limits will allow the DPF a sustained period of time to achieve a good satisfactory regeneration, This is where fuel is injected and ignited directly into the DPF to attain carbon burning temperatures, sometimes above 800 degrees, what is left over is ash, which cannot be removed.

When the soot content of a DPF is too high for a regeneration then the vehicles on board computer (ECU) will not allow it , as this could result in temperatures exceeding the manufacturers component capabilities and fire damage to the car.

This is where the vehicle would need a very thorough Decoke treatment to remove the soot and reset the DPF.

What happens if I ignore the warning lights?

Warning lights on your vehicles dashboard are to indicate that there is a problem with a component, if you ignore the DPF warning light then the soot content will accumulate very quickly, your vehicle might not be able to regenerate as the content is too high which could result with damaging other engine components such as your Turbo and EGR Valve.

Why is my DPF blocked?

There are many factors which can result in a blocked DPF,  most commonly a short commute and small regular distances in the car will not allow for the DPF to regenerate or allow the vehicle’s engine to heat up to a running temperature which allows the exhaust gases to be processed efficiently, the school run or close commute can be a typical reason. Using Cheap supermarket diesel is another reason. More expensive fuel such as Shell V-Power is refined to a higher standard, they include additives which help to break down carbon and lubricate your engine, they also have a higher Cetane rating (purer diesel) which will burn at a higher temperature than cheaper fuels thus not creating as much carbon.

Faulty sensors can be another reason which can be a very common fault, giving false readings back to the ECU , a blocked EGR valve is also a very common fault that causes excess emissions, Split air hoses allowing pressure to release, Also less commonly cracked intake manifolds can be a contributing factor.

How long does it take to clean my DPF?

At Decoke we aim to give the highest level of service possible and meeting the demands of our clients is something we pride ourselves with, so we try to work alongside the often busy and demanding lifestyles of our clients, if the time taken to clean your DPF is a huge factor, then we can take this into consideration by making a convenient date and time, so that our client can proceed with their business un-hindered.

Our services can take between 2-4 hours to complete, depending on the complexities and difficulties involved with each individual clients DPF.

What do the warning lights mean?

Your DPF light is illuminated when your DPF is above 60% and the unit is struggling to cope with the amount of soot and carbon content.

The illumination of your engine Management light can be a wide variety of problems inside your engine or associated components.

The coil light can also be triggered by a large variety of engine associated problems including a blocked EGR valve, a back up of pressure triggering sensors and restricted air flow.

The only professional way to start and deal with any engine related problems, warning lights and un-diagnosed symptoms is a Decoke Diagnostic treatment, which is free with any work carried out.
